Media Atelier created “Grandtotal”, a simple package to control your outgoing invoices. I have reviewed version 1 of this program, especially created for mac users: Click HERE to read the review.
A few weeks ago, they launched an updated version called “Grandtotal V2.0”
If you already own Grandtotal V1.0, the system will automatically ask you to upgrade. This upgrade will open a page with the link to buy the upgrade. Indeed, this upgrade isn’t free, but for 29 euro, you’ll get the upgrade which is certainly not expensive. If you would like to keep on using version 1, this is possible, but remember every time you’ll open the program, the question about upgrading will be raised.
If you don’t use Grandtotal already, you can buy the full package of version 2 for 69 euro.
- Several contacts for each client
- Create custom fields
- Send documents to any contact of you client
- Dropbox support for iPhone app
- Support for “Debit+Credit”
- 64-bit support
- Different icons and some lay-out improvements
In version 2 of Grandtotal, you’ll find a new page called “Dashboard” in the menu structure at the left side of the screen. This page is fully customisable at your own taste and will give you a summary of all open-, created- or send invoices for the last month, quarter or year. This summary is nice and colourful. Personally, I do use this page often! A simple summary to compare your actual quarter to the last one.
If you work for a company, you can create it as a “client”. You were able to do so in version 1 and you can still do it in version 2. Everything becomes more complicated if you had different departments in one company. In version 2 you can add more than one contact to each client / VAT number.
If you want to add custom fields into your tenders or invoices, you can add them in the layout editor of version 2. Personally, I never found this as a leak, but I can imagine that some users will like this new feature.
Cancel send invoices
In the past, when you created and sent an invoice, it was difficult to cancel it. This issue is solved. Select the invoice you want to cancel on the page “Invoices” and click on the little icon at the bottom left side of the screen. Next you select “delete”.
As you can create multiply contacts for each client, you can also send them all documents with your tenders and invoices. My tenders and invoices don’t contain documents, so I don’t use this function.
In the past, when you wanted to view a summary of all open invoices and tenders on the road, you needed to have a MobileMe account with your iPhone, but MobileMe isn’t free! The new version supports Dropbox, which is free! You just need to configure everything and it works really well. Personally, this is one of the best features in version 2!
If you have your own company, Grandtotal is a good accountancy package for all tenders and invoices, but if you wanted to add your expenses, this was impossible. In version 2, the support with another program “Debit+Credit” is fully operational. I will try to review this program in full detail as soon as possible.
64-bit support, different icons and some layout improvements
Version 2 has been improved for all 64-bits processors and the main icon has been changed. In the layout, you’ll also find some small changings. Not chocking, but quid good to see every time some new improvements!
Grandtotal is a simple accountancy package, which will certainly be appreciated by small or starting companies. Sadly, in version 1, some features where missing, but in this version, many features have further been developed.
The iPhone application comes in very handy when asking the client whether or not payment has been passed. With version 1, you needed to have a MobileMe account. In version 2, you can use Dropbox!
