Until today, I always tested products in relation to photography, but this review is about to change this habit. Thanks to The North Face, I had the opportunity to test their latest product, the "Super Hype Jacket”, a lightweight jacket that protects you from wind and rain.

2013-2014 brought in Belgium no real winter, but unfortunately a lot of rain. Therefor it was more than useful to dispose of a lightweight jacket as the "Super Hype Jacket". It weighs only 340g and is available in seven colours. I chose for the "Drummer Blue”, a very fresh bright colour with a young and yet stylish look, but it is also available in purple, orange, black, red, yellow and green.
It would be disrespectful to call this jacket a "basic raincoat or a KW" as it is much more than that when you take a closer look. The jacket is completely waterproof and windproof thanks to the Gore-Tex ® material. The so-called breathing system prevents the clammy feeling that you normally have in basic raincoats. Moreover, under both arms, a large zipper provides extra ventilation. Below these zippers, there is another zipper that provides access to a large pocket.

Maybe there are 2 small dots to improve. Firstly, the hood is fully lockable, but the system is rather uncommon and strange in the beginning. The closure is inside and you need to search for a button to push. The second dot is the lack of a loop to hang the jacket on a hook and therefor he jacket needs to be folded or hung on a coatrack.

On a test period of two weeks, this jacket made it as my absolute favourite in periods of changing weather and rain. It is really very light and easy to fold up to be taken along in a backpack and I am sure I'll ware this jacket often when hiking in the future.
The official retail price is 265 euro.
