As all nature photographers do, soon enough they will also encounter the following problem: where to find, at a decent price, warm and water resistant clothes adapted to photographic needs? Stealth Gear wanted to give an answer to this question and launched their “Extreme Photography Suit”. You’ll find the review about this product HERE.
Stealth Gear’s team is constantly improving and developing products and I was eager to test their trousers “Extreme Photographers Trousers 2n”, their jacket “Extreme Photographers Jacket” and their gloves “Photographer Gloves”.
January 15, Saturday, imagine a shiny white blanket of snow and temperatures below -5°C. I was leaving with another photographer to the “Hoge Venen” to capture some of these gorgeous wintery landscapes. It was time to test the new Stealth Gear products.
The “Extreme Photographers Jacket”:
You can easily compare the old jacket with the new one (I wrote a first review about that one about a year ago). The new jacket is almost identical to the old one, except from some improvements. Do you need to change a great product? The answer is “NO”, but I must admit, these improvements made the jacket even better than before. One of the improvements is an anti-slip strip on each shoulder to prevent that your camera strap will slip off your shoulder. If the temperature gets to high, you can easily change your jacket into a body warmer by removing the arm pieces with a zipper. Each upper arm has some small pockets for memory cards and your elbows are better protected with some extra mousse. You can buy the jacket in standard green color of in “charcoal”.

The “Extreme Photographers Trousers 2n”:
The trouser is, as one may expect, made especially for nature photographers and made with the same materials like all other clothing. Your knees and butt are extra protected with extra protection tissue. At the end of each sleeve (at the end of your leg), around the ankle area, you will also find extra protection. At the back, there are 2 pockets as well as 2 larger pockets on the outside of each leg. These pockets are expandable with a zipper. At the back, the trousers are made with a higher part to prevent entrance of cold wind or dust. At the top, at each side there are zippers to give more ventilation on hot summer days. To adjust the trouser to your size or hip, there are some Velcro strips on both sides that make it easy to adjust and make a perfect fit. At the end of your leg, you can easily adjust your trousers to your shoes.

The “Photographer Gloves”:
To end this review, I would like to show you the newest product of Stealth Gear: the Photographer gloves. These gloves are really amazing and they should be in each photo bag! The outside is made of the standard green water- & dust resistant tissue and the inside is made of a soft tissue filled with anti-slip dots. You are able to grip your camera very well and you can control every function without any effort! With a small hole for your forefinger and thumb, you have major control over your camera. You can also adjust the size at your wrist with a Velcro. When you decide not to use/wear the gloves, you can simply use the little cord at the end of each glove and hang them at your wrist. But like I mentioned before, I always take my Stealth Gear Gloves with me!

Price:
The jacket is yours for 249,95 euro. When you remember that we are talking about durable products adapted to different conditions, I think the price is very reasonable. A decent jacket in a high quality quality costs easily around 300 euro although it has no adaptations towards photography.
The trousers are sold for 99,95 euro and the gloves will cost you 39,95 euro. The Aquatech Sensory are similar, but will cost you 50% more!
Conclusion:
Stealth Gear has successfully created a high quality clothing line using durable materials, perfectly adapted to photography, and that at a reasonable price. You’ll notice that these products aren’t just made by some office guys, but I am sure that a team of nature photographers has assisted the designer crew! Personally, I like the jacket and trousers combination the most, especially in these cold days. The gloves are basic equipment for each photographer!
Tip:
If you want to buy some Stealth Gear clothes, go to a local shop and buy the correct fit. The sizes may change a lot!
