As all nature photographers, one day you’ll encounter the following problem: where to find warm and elegant waterproof clothes adapted to photographic needs, The team of the Swedish brand Pinewood was willing to respond to that request. The brand is already well known in the field of "Outdoor clothing" (for example for hunters) and has now expanded the range with clothing for photographers. The summer trousers "Kilimanjaro" and the vest "New Tiveden" were now ready to be tested.

The Belgian weather is very variable with sometimes some sunshine, but also many cold days with rain. But today, I was lucky to test the clothes in a local nature reserve with the sun shining as from he early morning.
The summer trousers "Kilimanjaro":
When receiving the trouser, I noticed immediately that the fabric was made in a very light sturdy structure, which should be ideal on hot days. The fabric gives a pleasant feeling and offers space to some small stuff. There are 2 pockets, one on each side of the leg, one can be closed with a zipper and buttons and the other only with buttons. Both bags are not big enough for a camera or lenses, but honestly I admit, it would not be easy to walk with a camera on each side of your legs ... In addition, you have the standard hip pockets. The zippers used are waterproof and of an excellent quality, at the bottom of the legs is a velcro to adjust the width. Personally, I think this is not necessary, but I can imagine that other users will find this useful. For the price of € 75 the trouser is yours.

The vest "New Tiveden":
In previous reviews about photographing clothes, it appeared that I am not a great fan of vests, but this vest has changed my opinion ... The vest makes a perfect combination with the previous described trouser and it fits neatly around your torso. A good vest is equipped with the necessary pockets, but here I miss a larger bag to temporarily store a professional camera or 70-200mm lens. In the front, you can find 5 bags large enough for batteries, filters, a cable or mobile phone. At the back, there is a big bag over the entire length of the lower back, but also this bag is not deep enough for lenses, but you can store here your monopod. This vest can be a handy part of your equipment. Sold for € 79.

Conclusion:
Pinewood has managed to bring a decent line of clothes on the market, which however to my opinion, needs some minor adjustments for photographers. The clothing is however durable and solid. So, if you want a good outdoor trouser and vest for your trips to warmer climates do not hesitate and buy a Pinewood product.
